DENTAL CLINING
What Happens During Your Dental Checkup?
Your semi-annual visits with us are divided into two parts, the checkup, and the cleaning. During your oral examination, we’ll start by checking the health of your gums and teeth, in search of any tell-tale signs of gum disease, like inflammation, swelling, and recession. We’ll also be on the lookout for any common oral health issues like dental decay.
After that, we’ll complete an oral cancer screening where we’ll look for any abnormalities such as lumps, sores that won’t heal, or patches on the inside of your mouth. We’ll also inspect your head, throat, face, and neck in search of signs of the disease. When it’s spotted early on, there’s a higher chance of successfully treating it, which is why we conduct a screening each time you visit us.

Why is Routine Preventive Care Important?
There are so many benefits to keeping up with routine dental care. It can reduce your risk of experiencing an emergency and having to carve out time from your busy schedule to visit us. Instead, you can choose to schedule a visit on your own time every six months to prevent serious oral health problems from ever occurring in the first place. Here are a few ways getting routine checkups and cleanings can help keep your mouth in tip-top shape:
Detect oral cancer before it’s too late to successfully treat it.
Remove plaque and tartar buildup to prevent cavities from forming.
Spot and treat gum disease before it causes permanent damage to your mouth.
Keep bad oral habits under control by letting us inform you of how they’re impacting your oral health.
Find hidden problems with dental X-rays.
